To which technology do you refer?

• That reverse tree of life

• And that artificial intelligence, like any society-altering technology, remain subject to oversight

Emphatically: NO.

HumansRule is a pro-human organization, not an anti-technology one.

But perhaps you’ve been reading about what Peter Thiel has to say.

HumansRule respectfully suggests that Mr. Thiel’s real gripe is with the possibility of vigorous enforcement of the antitrust laws, which might prevent him (and others) from consolidating power and influence to a level that is inconsistent with democracy.

HumansRule further suggests that as Mr. Thiel tinkers with Christian philosophy and continues to promote research that would help humans achieve “escape velocity” against mortality, he might consider that true Christians should not fear death.

HumansRule finally suggests that Mr. Thiel’s version of what constitutes the “Anti-Christ” appears opportunistic, and might shift to any entity or movement in a position to challenge his personal accumulation of power.

Humans throughout history have had to deal with bombast, with demagogues, and with individuals who have accumulated disproportionate power and wealth. All such individuals benefit from luck and timing, but are often incapable of recognizing this or making adjustments to their worldview to accommodate appropriate humility. Perhaps it is a curse to be surrounded by those who will not disagree with you, to understand on a visceral but not intellectual level that the  people you meet cannot help but want something from you.
